Jaiyé was founded by Funke Olatunde, whose relationship with food has always been rooted in care. Shaped by her Nigerian and Trinidadian heritage, she grew up understanding that food could say what words sometimes could not — welcome, stay, have some more, you are cared for. Years spent working in healthcare and hospitality only deepened that belief: people may forget the details, but they remember how you made them feel.
Jaiyé grew from a desire to create more of those moments. Its name comes from the Yorùbá idea of j’aiyé — to enjoy life — and that spirit sits at the heart of everything we do. Through food, generous hospitality and thoughtful experiences, Funke brings the flavours she knows and loves into a contemporary setting, creating spaces where people can eat well, connect deeply and, for a little while, simply enjoy being together.
